Foresthill
A short trip up the hill from Auburn, on the far side of the Foresthill Bridge – which is California’s tallest at 730 feet and spans the North Fork of the American River – you’ll find the small town of Foresthill: “Gateway to the Golden Sierra.” Stop, breathe, appreciate views of the snow-capped Sierra in the silence of the surrounding ponderosa pines. Decompress, and enjoy a more relaxed and rustic lifestyle. A true 1850s Gold Rush town, by 1880 it was one of the busiest and most populated areas in Placer County, and later became a working mill town. Today, you will enjoy a slower, more private lifestyle, while appreciating the convenience of a large grocery store, shops, a library and post office, and a few bars and eateries.
Children who attend the state-of-the-art high school or the combined elementary/middle school (a California Distinguished School), enjoy the seasonal festivities in town, and the old fashioned, wholesome family fun.
